Volunteers Christmas Tree
on Thursday December 8th at 6.30 pm in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre
To celebrate the European Year of Volunteering, this special tree will be decorated with stars featuring the names of thousands of Carlow's volunteers. Refreshments will be provided (with thanks to Unum), and Askea Parish Gospel Choir will set the Christmas mood with their carol singing.
We also look forward to meeting Carlow's Person of the Year, Elaine Jones, who will switch on the lights in honour of all of Carlow's volunteers.

EYV 2011 Tour comes to Dublin (22 - 28 August 2011)
EU countries will be toured over a one-year period as part of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. Each stage of the tour in each Member State will last for approximately ten days, and will provide volunteers with an opportunity to exhibit their work, meet one another, engage with policy-makers and the general public, convey their energy and enthusiasm, and discuss key issues for the future of their work. The tour comes to Dublin from 22 to 28 August 2011.

National Day of Volunteering (30 Sept 2011)
The 2010 National Day of VOlunteering was a great success, so why not put the 30th of September 2011 in your diaries now and plan for an even bigger event in 2011.

Now in its fourth year, the National Day of Volunteering takes place on Friday, 1st October and promises to be bigger than ever, building on the success of last year when more than 4,000 people got involved, volunteering in more than 170 projects across the 26 counties.
International Volunteer Managers Day (5 November 2011)

While the spotlight is often pointed towards the amazing achievements of volunteers around the world, the efforts of those who work so tirelessly in the background - to capably lead and equip volunteers - is all too often overlooked International Volunteer Managers Day (IVMDay) whic is to be celebrated on November 5, is the ideal opportunity to acknowledge and recognise the important work undertaken by those who lead volunteer effort and create environments in which volunteers and volunteering can flourish.
